      Preparing your floor to paint:

Before applying Garage Floor Paint we recommend you key the surface you're coating to help the product bond, also ensure your surface is clean, solid & sound. You should ensure all contaminates, dust and surface laitance is removed by either chemical cleaning, sanding, shot-blasting and/or diamond grinding. Any old paint should also be removed before application.

Should you prime your floor before painting - Please see below for the best primer for your floor:

      • For new concrete floors that have been laid for less than 3 weeks prime with Damp Proofing Primer

      • For new concrete floors that have been laid for longer than 3 weeks you don’t need to prime as the product is water-vapour permeable. Simply ensure the surface is clean solid and sound.

      • For very porous floors prime with Water Based Primer

      • For weak concrete floors prime with Solvent Free Epoxy Primer

      • For greasy floors with oil residue clean thoroughly scraping off any dust or dirt and prime with Oil Tolerant Epoxy Primer

Where possible, stabilise the substrate temperature before application - this can be achieved by heating to a minimum temperature of 15°C for 24 hours prior to application.

      Applying Garage Floor Paint:

We advise applying this product at a temperature between 10˚C and 25˚C. Surface temperature must be above 5°C. Garage Floor Paint is applied by brush, roller and/or squeegee, we recommend a medium pile, woven sleeve. We do not recommend trying to clean used rollers and re-using them as this may result in an uneven application of paint.

The floor paint is supplied in 2 parts; ‘A’, ‘B’ / Hardener.

Add 100% of part ‘B’ tin to part ‘A’

Thoroughly mix for at least 2-3 minutes using a heavy-duty slow speed drill with a mixing paddle. Take care when mixing to ensure hardener is dispersed.

Roller apply the Garage Floor Paint down with a roller of medium pile and sleeve.

      For non-slip variants:

Sprinkle the aggregate supplied into the surface of the paint, then simply run the run the roller over it again to encapsulate stone.

Leave to dry to 12-24 hours, then apply a second coat the same way.

Once complete, tools and equipment should be cleaned whilst resin is still wet using clean, cold water. Reacted material can only be cleaned/removed mechanically. Hands and skin should be cleaned immediately with hot soapy water.

Please note: The pot life of this product is 60 minutes.

      What is it?

Garage Floor Paint is a highly pigmented, easy to lay, water based epoxy resin coating. This floor paint provides a colourful, long lasting and hard wearing finish.

      What is it used for?

Garage Floor Paint is used to seal and produce a hard wearing, long lasting and easy-to-clean surface; on domestic garage floors, MOT test centres, motor workshops, automotive service centres, car parks, vehicle storage facilities, impounds, bus and coach depots and farm and agricultural garages.

      Who is it for?

This floor coating can be used domestically, for DIY painting of your own home garage floor; as its very easy to lay. However it is also used in professional work-spaces, as its hard-wearing nature allows for a great industrial finish.

Which materials can I use it on?

Garage Floor Paint can be applied to old and new concrete, previously painted surfaces, wooden flooring and asphalt. The coating is also suitable for polymer modified cementitious screeds, where an additive has been mixed with cement to provide a thinner surface or more resistance. We recommend that all substrates are properly prepped and primed before coating with this water-based resin paint.

      What is the finish like?

Our Garage Floor Paint provides a hard wearing, long lasting finish in a choice of 12 bold colours which won’t flake, lift or crack; so long as you've properly prepared the area you're coating. The surface is resistant to oils and domestic chemicals once laid and you can select from a smooth, glossy finish or a safe, slip resistant finish.

      What’s in the box?

With this product you will receive two parts. One part will be called either Part A, Base or Resin and the other part will be called Part B, Hardener or Catalyst. Each part should be labelled to show the product name and its part weight. Both parts must be mixed fully in order to achieve the working product. If you do not mix them properly and to the ratio we have supplied, this may result in the product not working as it should.

      How much does it cover?

Garage Floor Paint is supplied in 5kg & 10kg units.

      • 5kg unit covers 25 – 30 sq. m
      • 10kg unit covers 50 – 60 sq. m

Two coats are recommended, so bear this in mind when calculating your quantity.

      How do I apply it?

This product is best applied by roller to achieve a uniform appearance. Can also be applied by brush, trowel, squeegee. We advise to use a good quality, medium pile, woven roller sleeve. Using a roller sleeve of poor quality is not advised, as this may result in a contaminated finish.

How long does it take to set / dry?

      • Pot Life – Once both parts are mixed, our Garage Floor Paint has a 60 minute working pot life based at 20˚C.
      • Curing Time – Once laid, our Garage Floor Paint can be overcoated in 12-24 hours; pedestrian traffic can resume in 24 hours and heavy vehicle traffic in 2-3 days.
      • Full chemical Cure – As with all epoxy resins, this is achieved after 7 days.

      How long does it last?

Truly, this is a difficult question to answer because it will obviously vary depending on how much you use the surface. In a normal domestic garage environment, we comfortably estimate a working life of 3-5 years. Please note - areas of high footfall will wear faster than areas of vehicle traffic.
